Narrative:
After final flap retraction [on takeoff] the le flap transit light on the fwd panel remained illuminated. Also; the no. 5 slat (in transit) light remained illuminated on the overhead panel. QRH procedures were accomplished and the captain attempted to contact the company. Note---the ACARS failed about the same time. Just before the captain made contact with dispatch and maintenance; the lights extinguished and everything appeared normal. Maintenance advised us to continue and we agreed. Just before descent; the lights re-illuminated so we planned to do the flaps 15 landing and declared an emergency with ATC. After selecting flaps 1; the lights extinguished so we canceled the emergency and landed normally. Soon after touchdown; the lights re-illuminated. Logbook entries were made. Aircraft just came out of the hangar before our departure. The aircraft was recently operating on the MEL for the same problem. Maybe it was not repaired correctly?
