Narrative:
Approaching runway 29 with all checklists complete; tower advised that an air carrier aircraft was on a 3.5 mile final and then cleared us for takeoff. The traffic was in sight; the clearance was acknowledged; and I continued to taxi toward the runway. At the hold short line; tower canceled our takeoff clearance. Although I stopped the aircraft immediately; it was already across the hold line; so I notified tower that we were unable to accept the canceled takeoff clearance because we were already across the hold line. The tower did not respond for what seemed like a very long time; allowing the company aircraft to continue its approach until ultimately issuing a go-around clearance to the approaching aircraft. Without explanation; our aircraft was recleared for takeoff; and our flight departed without incident. After landing; I contacted my chief pilot about the event and was advised that ATC training had been in progress at the time.

Title: An Air Carrier Aircraft was issued a takeoff clearance; then told to hold short; but was already slightly across the hold short line so the Trainee Controller issued the aircraft on final a go around command.
