Narrative:
[During] landing; I landed and applied brakes. The right brake line; at a fitting; failed. I maintained directional control using rudder until rudder was no longer effective. I shut engine off. I could not use the left brake because the plane would have spun on the runway. I allowed the plane to continue to the end of the runway toward an overrun area. Once I entered the soft dirt I then applied the left brake to spin the plane; which stopped. Leaving the end of the runway; the right inner gear door struck and broke a taxiway light.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A Lancair Legacy's right brake line fitting failed during landing; so the pilot shut the engine down; taxied off the end of the runway then applied a brake to spin the aircraft around only hitting a taxiway light with a inner gear door.
