Narrative:
In a left base runway; descending to 2000ft; first officer was the PF. First officer commanded flaps 8; immediately received the caution light and a slats fail EICAS message. Capt complied with QRH as I took the radios and [were] being vectored around by tower. Once the QRH was completed and the problem was not resolved; a zero flap landing was made by the capt. We stopped safely and proceeded to the gate a few minutes late. Maintenance was called and we left the aircraft with brake temps high but decreasing for the overnight.
