Narrative:
On climbout; experienced pronounced airframe vibration at airspeeds from 280 - 295 kts. First officer was PF. We were discussing options when the B flight attendant called to inform us of shaking in the aft galley. We elected to return with the concurrence of dispatch and [operations]. Was able to get the vibration to be minimized/eliminated by slowing. No vibration experienced on descent; but speed was not allowed into the suspect range. Cause: darned if I know. Suspect free play issues in control surfaces.
