Narrative:
Tower cleared us for takeoff on 25R and then added to turn to a heading of 210 at the lax VOR. This was unsafe as we were on the take off roll and the VOR is off runway 24. We were a little late setting up the turn and the tower was unimpressed. We felt they should have given us the heading before the takeoff clearance and we could have elected to hold in position to set up the turn.
