Narrative:
We pushed off gate onto N-7/north-8 (cannot distinguish from 10-9B page). Called for taxi and was given 'taxi N-8; hold short of north'. At night this area has ramp lights and a multitude of red lights and fencing between taxiways N-7 and N-8. This island of red lights and fencing is not depicted on the 10-9B page and is very deceptive as you approach it. There is no signage indicating where N-8 turns off to the right of N-7. Visually I first thought the intersection was further than it was and turn where we should would place us on the wrong side of fenced area. Having the 10-9B page available for reference did not solve the confusing visual picture outside. I continued to taxi on N-7 and did not turn onto N-8. By the time we determined this error we were committed to N-7. We called ground who issued a low key clearance; 'continue N-7; N-8; hold short of north'. We did this and resumed taxi. With hind sight I would highlight the following: 1. We were aware of the taxiway N-7 restriction and briefed it according to sops. 2. NOTAM EDDZA4074/11 only gives a maximum wingspan of 36 M on N7 between taxiway north and Link3. Link3 is not published on our charts. 3. NOTAM EDDZA4073/11 states new links 1 and 3 connecting twys N-7 and N-8. I am not sure where these links are...not published on our charts; no signage outside. 4. Visual reference and picture is confusing leaving the A-16 gate area. The red light/fenced area between N-7 and N-8 is not depicted and gives the visual appearance that N-8 becomes a dead-end before it turns toward north. The 10-9B charts depict this entire area as open ramp space with a crossover taxiway. 5. Ground gave no indication of concern with our error or about spacing on N-7.
