Narrative:

Two of us were in the lobby on time but the crew bus was not yet there. The bus showed late and we left the hotel late as a result. We arrived at the airport and saw the local resident flight attendants in our crew leaving the office and the purser informed us the briefing had already occurred. He was given a directive by a supervisor that we all were to go directly to the gate and pick work positions which were left. We proceeded to the office anyway and were told once again the supervisor had given a directive to the purser that there would be no briefing. Once at gate we were not briefed by the purser about the flight we were to work but only filled the slots on the briefing sheet as to work positions. No mention was made of cabin maintenance; special passengers or safety issues. Boarding was delayed since security and cleaners were still on board. We thus had approximately 10-12 free minutes and could have not only re-briefed the entire crew but also filled the jumpseat positions in seniority order. The purser said he was going by the directive from the supervisors. I felt safety was compromised by this directive.
