Narrative:

A B747 was enroute to las when I took the hand off from ZLC sector 4. Reading the flight plan; something didn't make sense to me; he was a B744/C. I didn't remember /C equipment suffix being rvsm compliant as uret and the fdb was indicating (no coral box around the altitude.) I looked it up and it is for aircraft with RNAV with transponder with no mode C. Obviously not rvsm compliant. I asked the pilot what his qualifier was and he wasn't sure but he said he had everything on board. When the equipment qualifier was manually changed from /west and then back to /C; as instructed by the eram sme; it then showed nonrvsm; but until that was done; the aircraft flew through the entire facility (from canada) essentially nonrvsm with no indication at all on either the uret or in the fdb. Eram should know what is and isn't rvsm qualified equipment suffixes.
