Narrative:
While being vectored on the downwind at 3;000 ft; we were advised of traffic at 12 o'clock and 2 miles and descending. The aircraft appeared on TCAS and was only 200 ft below us. Before I could get a change in altitude or direction we received an RA to climb. We climbed to about 3;400 ft and advised ATC. The aircraft was in sight and descending. Once completely clear we descended back to 3;000. We were just vectored too close to the aircraft and the aircraft did not descend fast enough.
