Narrative:

Level cruise flight when the flight engineer alerted me to the hydraulic qty light on number 4; it was approximately 2.5 gallons and decreasing slowly. I transferred controls to the first officer; and the flight engineer and I completed QRH. Fluid quantity continued to decrease. After consulting with dispatch and the chief pilot; after considering fuel state; weather; and aircraft condition; elected to continue to destination. On hand off to approach; we declared an emergency due to abnormal extension of gear and flaps; executed the QRH procedures for loss of number 4 hydraulic system; and executed a normal flaps 25 landing. [There was a] hole in hydraulic line in number 4 pylon; causing loss of number 4 hydraulic system fluid.
