Narrative:
[We were] at FL360 'stab out of trim' light illuminated. [We] completed QRH which led us to using manual trim. Prior to disconnecting autopilot during descent we briefed flight attendants on potential altitude excursion and advised them to sit down. Electric trim would not respond per the QRH. Stab trim circuit breaker was not popped. [We] began using manual trim and hand flying per the QRH. [We] declared emergency; obtained landing data using data link. Contacted operations and they were very little help. Contacted dispatch to advise intent to continue to destination and land flaps 15 and requested landing data as a backup. [We] briefed the flight attendants on situation and the passengers. [We] confirmed with tower that equipment would be standing by as a precaution and intent to turn off at C for brake inspection after landing. Brake inspection was normal and continued to gate.
