Narrative:
[I] took off from teterboro from runway 24. [I] was given the teterboro 7 departure. Took off and climbed to 1;500 ft; and leveled off. Made the turn to the right to a heading of 280; and then began my climb to 2;000 ft. I climbed sooner than the 4.5 miles DME that I was supposed to. I was flying single pilot; and reviewed the departure several times prior to departure. My departure plate was on the yoke; however; with the work load at the time; I was unable to review again to ensure I was complying with all aspects of the departure. I had requested a vector departure to prevent me from making a mistake; knowing that newark had arrivals coming overhead and [I] did not want to make a mistake. The controller notified me that I had climbed too soon; but that there was [no] problem because there was no one around. I told him what had occurred and he told me not to worry about it that there was no problem but to be aware in the future.
