Narrative:
About 200 NM from entering the north atlantic track; gander control passed on a forecast for possible severe clear air turbulence (CAT) across our planned track from FL310-FL350. We were planned; and cleared at FL330. We obtained a re clearance from gander to fly the route at FL370; then called dispatch to have them update our route plan and fuel burn. Dispatch said they did not have any notice of CAT on our track. Dispatch said they were 'just sitting down at desk' and not up-to-speed on all the conditions for our flight; but that they did see a SIGMET for moderate turbulence that looked like it would affect our route of flight. Dispatch had not forwarded to us the SIGMET for the moderate turbulence; nor did they ever acknowledge getting a warning for severe CAT. Had gander assumed that we had received the weather warnings from our company; we might have flown into conditions that could have injured people.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: B767 First Officer is advised by ATC prior to entering the North Atlantic Track System; of sever turbulence at their planned flight level. The preflight weather packet had no mention of any turbulence and when Dispatch is queried; they acknowledge a SIGMET for moderate turbulence that was not part of the weather packet.
