Narrative:
While conducting an ILS (GS out) approach to runway 31 at bna, altitude 3000', in visual conditions with runway in sight (and so reported), a near miss was experienced. Vertical clearance less than 500' estimated, horizontal clearance 0. The aircraft in question was a twin small transport having just taken off from smyrna airport (approximately 11 NM due southeast of bna). Event occurred within nashville arsa/control zone. Target was called by nashville approach control, described as 'VFR traffic, etc.'. While at 3000' MSL, 6 NM southeast of bna, mh 230 degree, 210 KTS, visually sighted target aircraft. Since a potential collision course was perceived, a climbing maneuver was initiated. Target aircraft passed underneath on an approximately nnw heading. After near miss, a routine landing was accomplished at bna, runway 31.

Title: MLG HAS NMAC WITH SMT IN THE BNA ARSA.
Narrative: WHILE CONDUCTING AN ILS (GS OUT) APCH TO RWY 31 AT BNA, ALT 3000', IN VISUAL CONDITIONS WITH RWY IN SIGHT (AND SO REPORTED), A NEAR MISS WAS EXPERIENCED. VERTICAL CLRNC LESS THAN 500' ESTIMATED, HORIZONTAL CLRNC 0. THE ACFT IN QUESTION WAS A TWIN SMT HAVING JUST TAKEN OFF FROM SMYRNA ARPT (APPROX 11 NM DUE SE OF BNA). EVENT OCCURRED WITHIN NASHVILLE ARSA/CTL ZONE. TARGET WAS CALLED BY NASHVILLE APCH CTL, DESCRIBED AS 'VFR TFC, ETC.'. WHILE AT 3000' MSL, 6 NM SE OF BNA, MH 230 DEG, 210 KTS, VISUALLY SIGHTED TARGET ACFT. SINCE A POTENTIAL COLLISION COURSE WAS PERCEIVED, A CLIMBING MANEUVER WAS INITIATED. TARGET ACFT PASSED UNDERNEATH ON AN APPROX NNW HDG. AFTER NEAR MISS, A ROUTINE LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED AT BNA, RWY 31.
