Narrative:
Aircraft experienced loss of system a hydraulics. Accomplished loss of system a hydraulics QRH procedure. Captain elected to divert and declared emergency. Dispatch notified and agreed. Flight attendants; passengers and the divert airport operations were notified. Due to landing weight of approximately 123;000 pounds we accomplished overweight landing QRH procedure and all parameters were followed and met. Captain performed a normal flaps 30 landing and due to inoperative nose wheel steering; aircraft was towed to the gate. Passengers and crew boarded another available aircraft and we then continued to the filed destination. Maintenance advised us that a braided hose failed.
