Narrative:
I am filing this report for visibility. A B757-200 aircraft arrived february 2012. A midnight shift mechanic was in the process of doing a service check and he saw damage to three fan blades in #1 engine and also some damage to the fan exit case and fan exit guide vanes. Upon further investigation; an 8-inch file was found laying up against the fan exit guide vanes. The fan blades were replaced and the other damage was either repaired or deferred.

Title: A Maintenance Technician reports that a midnight shift Technician found an 8-inch file laying up against the fan exit guide vanes of #1 engine during a service check on a B757-200 aircraft after noticing damage to three fan blades; the fan exit case; and fan exit guide vanes.
Narrative: I am filing this report for visibility. A B757-200 aircraft arrived February 2012.
