Narrative:

San approach control claims that I violated the san TCA by about 4 mi and an air carrier jet inbound to lindbergh field had to extend its downwind approach in order to pass behind me. I did not penetrate the TCA and in fact was very careful to avoid it. I believe the air carrier jet was north of its assigned course and a little low and therefore flying near the boundaries of the TCA. Since I was near the boundaries also, a close encounter occurred. At an altitude of 4700' I flew southwest from gillespie field to lake murray. I set my VOR indicator to 264 degrees using the mission bay VOR (117.8 MHZ). The VOR needle stayed pegged to the left until south of lake murray. Once it moved off the peg, I turned right and aimed straight for the VOR station, which was visible in mission bay. I could see runway 27 at lindbergh and noted that the runway centerline was pointing well south of me. I could also see the navy golf course and montgomery field and they were all in the position I was familiar with for a track just north of the TCA. At jack murphy stadium, which I could look down into, I turned southwest again and proceeded along the east boundary of the VFR corridor crossing directly over balboa park. San approach claims that I strayed several mi south and was even south of the navy towers at the time of the encounter with the air carrier jet (I did not see the jet. I had my sun visors down at the time but could still see slightly above the horizon). I helped in the redesign of this TCA and therefore am very familiar with it. I can probably draw it from memory. I have been in the radar room at san TRACON and am aware that they often turn off the TCA outline in order to reduce screen clutter. That is why I suspect that the air carrier jet came close to violating my airspace and not the other way around.

Title: GA SMA UNAUTH PENETRATION OF AIRSPACE.

Narrative: SAN APCH CTL CLAIMS THAT I VIOLATED THE SAN TCA BY ABOUT 4 MI AND AN ACR JET INBND TO LINDBERGH FIELD HAD TO EXTEND ITS DOWNWIND APCH IN ORDER TO PASS BEHIND ME. I DID NOT PENETRATE THE TCA AND IN FACT WAS VERY CAREFUL TO AVOID IT. I BELIEVE THE ACR JET WAS N OF ITS ASSIGNED COURSE AND A LITTLE LOW AND THEREFORE FLYING NEAR THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TCA. SINCE I WAS NEAR THE BOUNDARIES ALSO, A CLOSE ENCOUNTER OCCURRED. AT AN ALT OF 4700' I FLEW SW FROM GILLESPIE FIELD TO LAKE MURRAY. I SET MY VOR INDICATOR TO 264 DEGS USING THE MISSION BAY VOR (117.8 MHZ). THE VOR NEEDLE STAYED PEGGED TO THE LEFT UNTIL S OF LAKE MURRAY. ONCE IT MOVED OFF THE PEG, I TURNED RIGHT AND AIMED STRAIGHT FOR THE VOR STATION, WHICH WAS VISIBLE IN MISSION BAY. I COULD SEE RWY 27 AT LINDBERGH AND NOTED THAT THE RWY CENTERLINE WAS POINTING WELL S OF ME. I COULD ALSO SEE THE NAVY GOLF COURSE AND MONTGOMERY FIELD AND THEY WERE ALL IN THE POS I WAS FAMILIAR WITH FOR A TRACK JUST N OF THE TCA. AT JACK MURPHY STADIUM, WHICH I COULD LOOK DOWN INTO, I TURNED SW AGAIN AND PROCEEDED ALONG THE E BOUNDARY OF THE VFR CORRIDOR XING DIRECTLY OVER BALBOA PARK. SAN APCH CLAIMS THAT I STRAYED SEVERAL MI S AND WAS EVEN S OF THE NAVY TWRS AT THE TIME OF THE ENCOUNTER WITH THE ACR JET (I DID NOT SEE THE JET. THAT IS WHY I SUSPECT THAT THE ACR JET CAME CLOSE TO VIOLATING MY AIRSPACE AND NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.
