Crew noted leak in hydraulic system a. Followed appropriate checklists; complied with QRH limitations. Selected divert to closer airport with better surface wind conditions. Divert airport also more appropriate for company ground support. Also the potential to close runway would have closed destination airport's primary runway. Uneventful landing at divert airport. Cause for malfunction still unknown.
