Narrative:
Approaching day on 12/mon/88 at approximately xa am. All relative checklists complied with. Cleared to land 24R. Landing clearance 24R subsequently cancelled at light aircraft on taxiway C was cleared for takeoff 24R. Requested sidestep 24L. After several seconds (10-15) cleared to land 24L. Turned 24L on taxiway. Contacted day ground control. Taxied to gate. Shut engines down. Accomplished relative checklist. Deplaned passenger. Subsequently informed my ground personnel. No wingtip contact was perceived. Requested sidestep 24L to eliminate possible conflict if missed approach procedure were executed. 10-15 second delay in landing clearance contributed to incident as distance from offset 24L decreased. However, during landing and rollout 24L no wingtip contact was perceived, approximately 3/4-1 mi from approaching end. Contacted NTSB classified as 'incident.' no investigation required per NTSB. No structural damage. Supplemental information from acn 100460: at approximately 300-400' AGL we were instructed to go around. The captain (who was flying) asked if runway 24L was available for landing. I asked the tower. It was and we were cleared to land runway 24L. I stated or questioned the captain about just executing a go around. He, west/O hesitation, stated it was ok. We selected flaps 40 for the landing now. At this point, being a little high, the captain (if I recall properly) brought the engines to idle while turning onto the centerline. We T/D'd with a firm landing, although I did not suspect any damage. While taxiing in the captain did make a passenger announcement apologizing for the firm landing. This I feel could have been prevented by simply executing a go around and possibly by myself being a little more persistent. Minor damage was incurred to the wing tip, slat and trailing edge flap.

Title: ACR MLG MAKES FIRM LNDG AND HAS WING TIP STRIKE LNDG AFTER SIDESTEP MANEUVER.
Narrative: APCHING DAY ON 12/MON/88 AT APPROX XA AM. ALL RELATIVE CHKLISTS COMPLIED WITH. CLRED TO LAND 24R. LNDG CLRNC 24R SUBSEQUENTLY CANCELLED AT LIGHT ACFT ON TXWY C WAS CLRED FOR TKOF 24R. REQUESTED SIDESTEP 24L. AFTER SEVERAL SECS (10-15) CLRED TO LAND 24L. TURNED 24L ON TXWY. CONTACTED DAY GND CTL. TAXIED TO GATE. SHUT ENGS DOWN. ACCOMPLISHED RELATIVE CHKLIST. DEPLANED PAX. SUBSEQUENTLY INFORMED MY GND PERSONNEL. NO WINGTIP CONTACT WAS PERCEIVED. REQUESTED SIDESTEP 24L TO ELIMINATE POSSIBLE CONFLICT IF MISSED APCH PROC WERE EXECUTED. 10-15 SEC DELAY IN LNDG CLRNC CONTRIBUTED TO INCIDENT AS DISTANCE FROM OFFSET 24L DECREASED. HOWEVER, DURING LNDG AND ROLLOUT 24L NO WINGTIP CONTACT WAS PERCEIVED, APPROX 3/4-1 MI FROM APCHING END. CONTACTED NTSB CLASSIFIED AS 'INCIDENT.' NO INVESTIGATION REQUIRED PER NTSB. NO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 100460: AT APPROX 300-400' AGL WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO GO AROUND. THE CAPT (WHO WAS FLYING) ASKED IF RWY 24L WAS AVAILABLE FOR LNDG. I ASKED THE TWR. IT WAS AND WE WERE CLRED TO LAND RWY 24L. I STATED OR QUESTIONED THE CAPT ABOUT JUST EXECUTING A GAR. HE, W/O HESITATION, STATED IT WAS OK. WE SELECTED FLAPS 40 FOR THE LNDG NOW. AT THIS POINT, BEING A LITTLE HIGH, THE CAPT (IF I RECALL PROPERLY) BROUGHT THE ENGS TO IDLE WHILE TURNING ONTO THE CENTERLINE. WE T/D'D WITH A FIRM LNDG, ALTHOUGH I DID NOT SUSPECT ANY DAMAGE. WHILE TAXIING IN THE CAPT DID MAKE A PAX ANNOUNCEMENT APOLOGIZING FOR THE FIRM LNDG. THIS I FEEL COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY SIMPLY EXECUTING A GAR AND POSSIBLY BY MYSELF BEING A LITTLE MORE PERSISTENT. MINOR DAMAGE WAS INCURRED TO THE WING TIP, SLAT AND TRAILING EDGE FLAP.
