Narrative:

At about XA50 the F/east noticed the oil quantity on #1 engine was low and dropping slowly. We monitored the gauge and confirmed the decrease. As we continued to watch the oil quantity decrease we formulated a plan for shutdown and consulted the flight manual. When the quantity reached 0 and the temperature began to rise and the pressure began to drop, I called the company and coordinated an engine shutdown with maintenance and operations control. We also began a drift down to 26000'. We notified ATC and after consulting with company dispatch and calculating our fuel burn, we opted to proceed to our destination of fll. Our reasoning was that it was a precautionary shutdown. There was still oil pressure in the windmilling engine (about 15 psi). WX conditions en route and at fll were excellent. I am very familiar with that airport, and our fuel was more than sufficient. (We calculated it would be 1 hour to fll and we would burn an extra 1000 pounds.) we had excess fuel ahead of flight planned. We landed with our flight planned reserve plus holding. The approach and landing were uneventful with the emergency equipment standing by. I believe we took all the necessary precautions and had a textbook performance.

Title: ACR LGT INFLT ENGINE SHUTDOWN.

Narrative: AT ABOUT XA50 THE F/E NOTICED THE OIL QUANTITY ON #1 ENG WAS LOW AND DROPPING SLOWLY. WE MONITORED THE GAUGE AND CONFIRMED THE DECREASE. AS WE CONTINUED TO WATCH THE OIL QUANTITY DECREASE WE FORMULATED A PLAN FOR SHUTDOWN AND CONSULTED THE FLT MANUAL. WHEN THE QUANTITY REACHED 0 AND THE TEMP BEGAN TO RISE AND THE PRESSURE BEGAN TO DROP, I CALLED THE COMPANY AND COORDINATED AN ENG SHUTDOWN WITH MAINT AND OPS CTL. WE ALSO BEGAN A DRIFT DOWN TO 26000'. WE NOTIFIED ATC AND AFTER CONSULTING WITH COMPANY DISPATCH AND CALCULATING OUR FUEL BURN, WE OPTED TO PROCEED TO OUR DEST OF FLL. OUR REASONING WAS THAT IT WAS A PRECAUTIONARY SHUTDOWN. THERE WAS STILL OIL PRESSURE IN THE WINDMILLING ENG (ABOUT 15 PSI). WX CONDITIONS ENRTE AND AT FLL WERE EXCELLENT. I AM VERY FAMILIAR WITH THAT ARPT, AND OUR FUEL WAS MORE THAN SUFFICIENT. (WE CALCULATED IT WOULD BE 1 HR TO FLL AND WE WOULD BURN AN EXTRA 1000 LBS.) WE HAD EXCESS FUEL AHEAD OF FLT PLANNED. WE LANDED WITH OUR FLT PLANNED RESERVE PLUS HOLDING. THE APCH AND LNDG WERE UNEVENTFUL WITH THE EMER EQUIP STANDING BY. I BELIEVE WE TOOK ALL THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS AND HAD A TEXTBOOK PERFORMANCE.
