Narrative:
While established on the ILS 12R at houston hobby 2 mi outside the marker, approach called and said visibility had gone to 1/2 mi. The approach plate requires 3/4 mi. I, not knowing what the visibility requirements were, continued the approach. It was bad planning on my part. I feel that approach should inform the pilot about visibility requirements while giving you the visibility.
