Narrative:
[We] rejected takeoff at 85 KTS because the captain's altimeter setting spontaneously changed from 30.01 inches to 29.89 inches during the takeoff roll. I saw the displayed altitude change and the yellow neg flag also popped up because the different altimeter setting placed us below sea level. Unknown what caused the malfunction.

Title: CRJ-50 Captain reported rejecting takeoff at 85 KTS when his altimeter setting spontaneously changed from 30.01 to 29.89.
Narrative: [We] rejected takeoff at 85 KTS because the Captain's altimeter setting spontaneously changed from 30.01 inches to 29.89 inches during the takeoff roll. I saw the displayed altitude change and the yellow NEG flag also popped up because the different altimeter setting placed us below sea level. Unknown what caused the malfunction.
