Narrative:
Approaching our destination did not receive confirmation of landing gear extension. [We] checked all appropriate systems. [We] discontinued approach. On go around; tower confirmed all landing gear was down. [We] declared an emergency. Completed all appropriate check lists. On return for second approach three green lights in view. [We had] emergency equipment standing by and landed aircraft; uneventful and deplaned at gate.

Title: A MD-82 landing gear failed to indicate down and locked after extension on approach; so a go around was executed; an emergency declared; the QRH complied with and the aircraft returned to land with three green lights.
