Narrative:
My son had just moved to oceanside, ca, and there was an emergency that had occurred and that's why I had flown to oceanside. I was stopped 1/sun/89 by FAA safety inspector at L32. While I was putting gas in my plane he informed me that I couldn't use automatic gas. I was under the impression that 150 hp or less engines could use automatic gas, but he said only with a south & C certificate. I was informed that my north #'south were not in script. I didn't know that. My medical was not current. I had an appointment for my medical. I had a complete physical by another doctor within 3 months of this time and was found fit. I thought it would be adequate until I got back. I got my medical certificate on 1/wed/89. My biannual flight on 1/tue/89 prior. My maintenance records were stolen from my aircraft and I didn't remember the last annual. Since the incident I have had the airplane annual and found safe and airworthy. I have never knowingly abused my pilot certificate and I've never had any violations. I never take my flying and safety for granted.
