Narrative:
Crew members schedule was changed. Crew was pulled off schedule during lunch break to perform a maintenance test flight check of aircraft because of a propeller change. During planned engine shutdown, because of heavy traffic in the area, normal procedures were altered. Instead of challenge-response procedure, the first officer was instructed to fly the aircraft and maintain a constant traffic vigil. The captain reviewed the procedure and then proceeded with planned shutdown. It is believed that the procedure was not followed correctly. The generator switch was later found in the on position--it should have been off. At any rate the right 325 amp current limiter zapped, removing all cross bus power to right essential bus, thus precluding an in-flight restart. Departure control and dispatch were notified and a routine single engine ILS approach and landing was accomplished. Emergency equipment was out. Engine propeller was feathered. Problem would have been avoided by following normal procedure regardless of traffic density. Company should have special pilot and/or procedures sheet for each type of maintenance test flight.

Title: ACR LTT UNABLE TO UNFEATHER PROPELLER ON ROUTINE TEST FLT MADE SINGLE ENGINE APCH LNDG.
Narrative: CREW MEMBERS SCHEDULE WAS CHANGED. CREW WAS PULLED OFF SCHEDULE DURING LUNCH BREAK TO PERFORM A MAINT TEST FLT CHK OF ACFT BECAUSE OF A PROP CHANGE. DURING PLANNED ENG SHUTDOWN, BECAUSE OF HVY TFC IN THE AREA, NORMAL PROCS WERE ALTERED. INSTEAD OF CHALLENGE-RESPONSE PROC, THE F/O WAS INSTRUCTED TO FLY THE ACFT AND MAINTAIN A CONSTANT TFC VIGIL. THE CAPT REVIEWED THE PROC AND THEN PROCEEDED WITH PLANNED SHUTDOWN. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE PROC WAS NOT FOLLOWED CORRECTLY. THE GENERATOR SWITCH WAS LATER FOUND IN THE ON POS--IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OFF. AT ANY RATE THE RIGHT 325 AMP CURRENT LIMITER ZAPPED, REMOVING ALL CROSS BUS PWR TO RIGHT ESSENTIAL BUS, THUS PRECLUDING AN INFLT RESTART. DEP CTL AND DISPATCH WERE NOTIFIED AND A ROUTINE SINGLE ENG ILS APCH AND LNDG WAS ACCOMPLISHED. EMER EQUIP WAS OUT. ENG PROP WAS FEATHERED. PROB WOULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED BY FOLLOWING NORMAL PROC REGARDLESS OF TFC DENSITY. COMPANY SHOULD HAVE SPECIAL PLT AND/OR PROCS SHEET FOR EACH TYPE OF MAINT TEST FLT.
