Narrative:

On approach, ATC informed us we were cleared for 'parallel approach to 28R, traffic at 2 O'clock, landing 28L, has you in sight.' we did not have other aircraft (large transport) in sight. I overshot turn to final by about 50-100' and was correcting back to right, when large transport overtook us on left, too close for my liking. Large transport slowed and veered to left as we corrected to 28R centerline. I don't know if we were closer than normal for 28 parallel approach, but it was 'uncomfortable.' situation occurred because of: large transport did not maintain adequate clearance, though it was the overtaking aircraft, and had called us in sight; my overshooting final, due to preoccupation with cockpit work.

Title: TOO CLOSE ON TURN TO FINAL ON VISUAL APCH.

Narrative: ON APCH, ATC INFORMED US WE WERE CLRED FOR 'PARALLEL APCH TO 28R, TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK, LNDG 28L, HAS YOU IN SIGHT.' WE DID NOT HAVE OTHER ACFT (LGT) IN SIGHT. I OVERSHOT TURN TO FINAL BY ABOUT 50-100' AND WAS CORRECTING BACK TO RIGHT, WHEN LGT OVERTOOK US ON LEFT, TOO CLOSE FOR MY LIKING. LGT SLOWED AND VEERED TO LEFT AS WE CORRECTED TO 28R CENTERLINE. I DON'T KNOW IF WE WERE CLOSER THAN NORMAL FOR 28 PARALLEL APCH, BUT IT WAS 'UNCOMFORTABLE.' SITUATION OCCURRED BECAUSE OF: LGT DID NOT MAINTAIN ADEQUATE CLRNC, THOUGH IT WAS THE OVERTAKING ACFT, AND HAD CALLED US IN SIGHT; MY OVERSHOOTING FINAL, DUE TO PREOCCUPATION WITH COCKPIT WORK.
