Narrative:
Taxiing to park at our ramp area, the area appeared clear to me. It was night and the marshaller had well lit wands. I started following her commands, as the area still appeared clear to me. There were no lines on the ramp to follow or for safe clrncs of any obstacles. At this time, while following the marshallers commands, the left wing struck a new air carrier jetway. I had not remembered ever seeing the jetway there before. Come to find out it was new and was poorly lit by the ramp lights on the terminal bldg. After shutting down the aircraft and taking some measurements, I noted that there was no way the plane could have pulled straight into the marshaller without hitting the jetway.
