Narrative:
Approaching the gate; marshaller stopped us 2 to 3 feet short and reported flames coming from number 1 engine. Although; there were no cockpit indications of a fire; we accomplished the engine fire checklist per QRH and were then towed to gate.

Title: B737 flight crew is informed during taxi in to the gate that the left engine is on fire. The engine is shut down per QRH procedures with one fire bottle fired but no fire indications.
Narrative: Approaching the gate; Marshaller stopped us 2 to 3 feet short and reported flames coming from Number 1 engine. Although; there were no cockpit indications of a fire; we accomplished the Engine Fire Checklist per QRH and were then towed to gate.
