Narrative:
There was an outbnd push from sju where there were approximately 15 departures. I had air carrier X climbing to FL290 and air carrier Y climbing to 17000'. The air carrier Y took off about 4 or 5 mins in front of the air carrier X. The 2 aircraft were both heading approximately the same direction which was southeast. Air carrier Y called and asked what altitude the aircraft that came in close proximity to him was and I reported 17000'. At this point I discussed the matter with the supervisor in charge because I realized the 2 aircraft were close. I never realized the possible confliction until air carrier Y asked about his traffic. This problem could have been avoided with more attentive scanning.
