Narrative:

Small aircraft X was on an IFR flight from cqa to 2a1. I cleared the aircraft to 4000' and told him to report airport in sight. The pilot did and I cleared small aircraft X for a visibility approach. Small aircraft X cancelled his flight plan with me and went over to unicom for advisories. About 4 mins later, small aircraft X called me back to inform me that the airport was closed. He said he needed vectors to the nearest airport because he was low on fuel. I vectored the aircraft to scx airport 17 mi east of his position. Apparently the tmu unit at ZID was aware of the airport closing but failed to advise the controllers through the facility outage sheet. I don't know why the pilot wasn't told (or if he was told) of the outage when he filed his IFR flight plan. The aircraft landed safely with enough fuel.

Title: SMA WAS CLEARED TO AN ARPT THAT WAS CLOSED.

Narrative: SMA X WAS ON AN IFR FLT FROM CQA TO 2A1. I CLRED THE ACFT TO 4000' AND TOLD HIM TO RPT ARPT IN SIGHT. THE PLT DID AND I CLRED SMA X FOR A VIS APCH. SMA X CANCELLED HIS FLT PLAN WITH ME AND WENT OVER TO UNICOM FOR ADVISORIES. ABOUT 4 MINS LATER, SMA X CALLED ME BACK TO INFORM ME THAT THE ARPT WAS CLOSED. HE SAID HE NEEDED VECTORS TO THE NEAREST ARPT BECAUSE HE WAS LOW ON FUEL. I VECTORED THE ACFT TO SCX ARPT 17 MI E OF HIS POS. APPARENTLY THE TMU UNIT AT ZID WAS AWARE OF THE ARPT CLOSING BUT FAILED TO ADVISE THE CTLRS THROUGH THE FAC OUTAGE SHEET. I DON'T KNOW WHY THE PLT WASN'T TOLD (OR IF HE WAS TOLD) OF THE OUTAGE WHEN HE FILED HIS IFR FLT PLAN. THE ACFT LANDED SAFELY WITH ENOUGH FUEL.
