Narrative:
Air carrier X was southbound on J121 at 39000' in sector 09's airspace. Sector 38 pointed out medium large transport Y at 39000' deviating for WX. I said unable and gave pointout on air carrier X. Sector 38 climbed medium large transport Y to 41000'. I turned air carrier X to a heading of 180 degrees, then 160 degrees. Sector 38 turned medium large transport Y to approximately 160 degree heading. Standard sep was lost briefly. Supplemental information from acn 109687: I was working a sector which was impacted by thunderstorms. Pilots were deviating for WX. The aircraft repeatedly requested a higher altitude. Finally I climbed him to the wrong altitude for direction of flight, intending to continue his climb when he was clear of traffic. He was deviating and went further to the east than I had anticipated and got together with air carrier X. I had attempted a pointout to the next sector. It was untimely, which probably caused the systems error. What concerns me more than what happened, was why it happened and the handling of the situation by the supervisor in charge. There were a few traumatic occurrences in my life around the time of this occurrence. Maybe they had more of an effect on me than I thought. When the error happened no supervisor took it upon himself to see if I was all right. When I mentioned the fact that maybe personal problems could have played a part, the supervisor did not seem to acknowledge it. I was ignored for 3 days before anyone said anything to me. I can't deny the fact that I made a mistake, but if the powers that be want to improve the system they must deal with the humanity (ie, emotions) of the work force.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MLG X WAS DEVIATING OFF COURSE BECAUSE OF WX AND CONFLICTED WITH AN ACR IN ANOTHER CTLR'S AIRSPACE.
Narrative: ACR X WAS SBND ON J121 AT 39000' IN SECTOR 09'S AIRSPACE. SECTOR 38 POINTED OUT MLG Y AT 39000' DEVIATING FOR WX. I SAID UNABLE AND GAVE POINTOUT ON ACR X. SECTOR 38 CLBED MLG Y TO 41000'. I TURNED ACR X TO A HDG OF 180 DEGS, THEN 160 DEGS. SECTOR 38 TURNED MLG Y TO APPROX 160 DEG HDG. STANDARD SEP WAS LOST BRIEFLY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 109687: I WAS WORKING A SECTOR WHICH WAS IMPACTED BY TSTMS. PLTS WERE DEVIATING FOR WX. THE ACFT REPEATEDLY REQUESTED A HIGHER ALT. FINALLY I CLBED HIM TO THE WRONG ALT FOR DIRECTION OF FLT, INTENDING TO CONTINUE HIS CLB WHEN HE WAS CLR OF TFC. HE WAS DEVIATING AND WENT FURTHER TO THE E THAN I HAD ANTICIPATED AND GOT TOGETHER WITH ACR X. I HAD ATTEMPTED A POINTOUT TO THE NEXT SECTOR. IT WAS UNTIMELY, WHICH PROBABLY CAUSED THE SYSTEMS ERROR. WHAT CONCERNS ME MORE THAN WHAT HAPPENED, WAS WHY IT HAPPENED AND THE HANDLING OF THE SITUATION BY THE SUPVR IN CHARGE. THERE WERE A FEW TRAUMATIC OCCURRENCES IN MY LIFE AROUND THE TIME OF THIS OCCURRENCE. MAYBE THEY HAD MORE OF AN EFFECT ON ME THAN I THOUGHT. WHEN THE ERROR HAPPENED NO SUPVR TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO SEE IF I WAS ALL RIGHT. WHEN I MENTIONED THE FACT THAT MAYBE PERSONAL PROBS COULD HAVE PLAYED A PART, THE SUPVR DID NOT SEEM TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT. I WAS IGNORED FOR 3 DAYS BEFORE ANYONE SAID ANYTHING TO ME. I CAN'T DENY THE FACT THAT I MADE A MISTAKE, BUT IF THE POWERS THAT BE WANT TO IMPROVE THE SYS THEY MUST DEAL WITH THE HUMANITY (IE, EMOTIONS) OF THE WORK FORCE.
