Narrative:
The rear canopy of the DA40 was not properly closed and locked prior to the flight. During takeoff roll the rear canopy came loose and departed the aircraft landing at the edge of the runway. The takeoff was safely aborted and the aircraft never left the ground. No injury to persons resulted.

Narrative: The rear canopy of the DA40 was not properly closed and locked prior to the flight.
