Narrative:
While enroute through class C on a training flight I noticed my engine running rough with an elevated [cht] on number 2 cylinder. I notified that I was going to return to [the] airport and started left turn to reverse course. At that time I heard a pop noise and the engine quit producing power. I declared an emergency [and] glided to an uneventful landing at [the] airport.
