Narrative:
Inadvertently taxied onto closed taxiway due to confusion on airport diagram on chart. It appeared the taxiway in question was the one we were to taxi on. We thought the taxiway was the one issued in the controller's instructions as depicted on the airport diagram chart. The txwys on the airport are not visually marked/identified or numbered. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: we were busy as we were taxiing and inadvertently passed up the taxiway where we were supposed to turn toward the runway. If there was a sign there designating the taxiway, we did not see it. I do not know why taxiway a is closed from that point to the end of runway 22 unless it is because of the national guard activity on and along that taxiway.

Title: FLT CREW OF SMT TAXIED ONTO CLOSED TXWY.
Narrative: INADVERTENTLY TAXIED ONTO CLOSED TXWY DUE TO CONFUSION ON ARPT DIAGRAM ON CHART. IT APPEARED THE TXWY IN QUESTION WAS THE ONE WE WERE TO TAXI ON. WE THOUGHT THE TXWY WAS THE ONE ISSUED IN THE CTLR'S INSTRUCTIONS AS DEPICTED ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM CHART. THE TXWYS ON THE ARPT ARE NOT VISUALLY MARKED/IDENTIFIED OR NUMBERED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH REPORTER REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: WE WERE BUSY AS WE WERE TAXIING AND INADVERTENTLY PASSED UP THE TXWY WHERE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO TURN TOWARD THE RWY. IF THERE WAS A SIGN THERE DESIGNATING THE TXWY, WE DID NOT SEE IT. I DO NOT KNOW WHY TXWY A IS CLOSED FROM THAT POINT TO THE END OF RWY 22 UNLESS IT IS BECAUSE OF THE NATIONAL GUARD ACTIVITY ON AND ALONG THAT TXWY.
