Narrative:

Shortly after takeoff both mcdu's locked out. We lost all navigation ability. The course line on the map display disappeared; we could not select standby nav; manually tune any frequencies; the autopilot would not engage and the FMS would not compute the proper airspeeds. We checked the QRH and aom for guidance and realized we could not correct the problem. After checking the weather we declared an emergency and diverted because the weather there was VFR. Landed without incident. Maintenance corrected the issue and we continued to destination.
