Narrative:

Cga X was southbound from mke to cvg east of filed routing at FL230. A pointout was given from ZAU to ZID laf sector. Laf sector took handoff on air carrier Y to ord at FL240. Controller forgot about the pointed out on cga X and cleared air carrier Y to FL200. Conflict alert activated when air carrier Y left FL240. Air carrier Y subsequently reclred to FL240 and issued 360 degree heading. Insufficient to maintain separation and conflict alert activated.

Narrative: CGA X WAS SBND FROM MKE TO CVG E OF FILED ROUTING AT FL230. A POINTOUT WAS GIVEN FROM ZAU TO ZID LAF SECTOR. LAF SECTOR TOOK HANDOFF ON ACR Y TO ORD AT FL240. CTLR FORGOT ABOUT THE POINTED OUT ON CGA X AND CLRED ACR Y TO FL200. CONFLICT ALERT ACTIVATED WHEN ACR Y LEFT FL240. ACR Y SUBSEQUENTLY RECLRED TO FL240 AND ISSUED 360 DEG HDG.
