Narrative:
Went to takeoff on RNAV and everything appeared normal. At about 30 KIAS first officer (first officer) asked if I was on rudder pedals as they were stiff. We aborted the takeoff and as we slowed I noticed the yd message annunciator. This was not on before and the first officer distinctly remembers no yd annunciation on his pfd prior to me turning it off the [when we] taxied clear. No other issues noted and we had to return to gate for a ground stop. We did SOP and believe it to be a spurious glitch.
