Narrative:
During taxi in we were told to hold short of taxiway D and give way to another air carrier. When the traffic cleared and we were cleared to the terminal a catering truck came out of almost nowhere; passing a truck at the stop line on the service road; and cut us off so close that the right side of the truck was obscured by the nose of our aircraft. I braked very abruptly and aggressively to avoid a collision. We reported this to ground control and were given a number to call the tower.
