Narrative:
While holding short of runway 12L, tower cleared us, medium large transport X, to follow the red line across 12L, hurry across 17 and into position and hold on runway 12R. Both first officer and I heard these instructions, and the first officer repeated them to tower. Before going into position on runway 12R, I could see an aircraft on final about 2 1/2 mi out. First officer and myself again verified that we both heard position and hold. The aircraft on final appeared to be lined up with 12L and I could not tell its size. While holding in position on 12R we heard medium large transport Y going around and tower told us he had instructed us to hold short of runway 12R. First officer told tower that we had both heard position and hold and that he had acknowledged position and hold on 12R.
