Narrative:
Just want to suggest that NOTAM format be changed to show not only the day of the month and time the NOTAM was reported but also the month. This would help the pilot using the same airport often to scan the NOTAMS better as he could better determine which ones he had already read. It would also help both the pilot and the originating facility determine which ones are obviously obsolete. Recently on a flight from dayton, oh to lansing, mi I plodded through 11 separate NOTAMS for lan. To my surprise I found one calling for patchy ice on both runways with braking action pour on one and nil on the other. The date of our flight was jul X. While this was a company NOTAM, not FAA, my experience has been that the problem is universal. I'm sure that changing the NOTAM format would be a large undertaking but I believe it would help us all separate the wheat from the chaff and improve safety. It needs to be done.
