Narrative:
Small transport X was issued a clearance to bur at FL230. Small transport X entered sector 18's airspace at FL230 without a handoff and flew approximately 40-50 mi before the controller at sector 18 saw the limited data block. He then backtracked to sector 44 and identification was reestablished. The controller at 44 never received a flight progress strip on small transport X and the automatic handoff was inhibited on the aircraft to keep it from flashing at another sector it was pointed out to.
