Narrative:

Departing sna for lax, ground control instructed us to cross runway 19L at the midfield point. My first officer and I understood the clearance to cross runway 19L and hold short of runway 19R. Both of us cleared the area to our right as we began to cross midfield. Ground control told us to stop immediately. This put me between the runway and inside of the hold lines. The nose of my aircraft protruded onto the runway. Once I came to a complete stop, a single engine small aircraft had just lifted off on our right side. Orange county airport is a very busy airport. Because of all the construction occurring, the workload is very high for the controllers. Somehow there was a miscom in the tower when we were told to cross. Nothing serious happened.
