Narrative:
After holding on taxiway we were cleared into the gate by ramp control. We were consequently cleared to taxi to the gate. I taxied aircraft into the 'alley way' and aligned aircraft with lead in lines. As I approached the gate area I noticed no ground equipment parked outside equipment lines. I observed wing walker and ground signalman in correct positions with ground signalman giving continuing signal. Approximately 15-20' from loading bridge aircraft left wing struck parked ground equipment (a truck). I stopped aircraft until truck was moved. After securing aircraft and deplaning I questioned ground signalman and maintenance people as to what happened. Ground signalman said he 'slipped' and couldn't give me the emergency stop signal. Maintenance advised me that vehicle shouldn't have been parked where it was! I don't observe the signalman 'slip' at anytime. I had no way of knowing the mail truck was parked where it 'wasn't' supposed to be if that were the case! I responded to all of the company's requests as to what had happened! My response was simply that what had happened was that while parking the aircraft under directions from ground signalman and wing walker the aircraft struck a ground vehicle. There were no injuries and the WX was not a factor. It was clear, ramps were dry, at dusk!

Title: COLLISION BETWEEN LGT AND GND VEHICLE DURING TAXI INTO PARKING GATE.
Narrative: AFTER HOLDING ON TXWY WE WERE CLRED INTO THE GATE BY RAMP CTL. WE WERE CONSEQUENTLY CLRED TO TAXI TO THE GATE. I TAXIED ACFT INTO THE 'ALLEY WAY' AND ALIGNED ACFT WITH LEAD IN LINES. AS I APCHED THE GATE AREA I NOTICED NO GND EQUIPMENT PARKED OUTSIDE EQUIPMENT LINES. I OBSERVED WING WALKER AND GND SIGNALMAN IN CORRECT POSITIONS WITH GND SIGNALMAN GIVING CONTINUING SIGNAL. APPROX 15-20' FROM LOADING BRIDGE ACFT LEFT WING STRUCK PARKED GND EQUIPMENT (A TRUCK). I STOPPED ACFT UNTIL TRUCK WAS MOVED. AFTER SECURING ACFT AND DEPLANING I QUESTIONED GND SIGNALMAN AND MAINT PEOPLE AS TO WHAT HAPPENED. GND SIGNALMAN SAID HE 'SLIPPED' AND COULDN'T GIVE ME THE EMER STOP SIGNAL. MAINT ADVISED ME THAT VEHICLE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN PARKED WHERE IT WAS! MY RESPONSE WAS SIMPLY THAT WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS THAT WHILE PARKING THE ACFT UNDER DIRECTIONS FROM GND SIGNALMAN AND WING WALKER THE ACFT STRUCK A GND VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND THE WX WAS NOT A FACTOR. IT WAS CLEAR, RAMPS WERE DRY, AT DUSK!
