Narrative:
After departing runway 32L from ord, we contacted departure control on frequency 125.4. Almost immediately we were told to contact chicago center on frequency 127.6. After contacting ZAU, we were cleared to FL200. Leaving 7000' we verified our cleared altitude, and also verified that we should indeed be on frequency 127.6. The answer was affirmative to both questions. However, leaving 7800', we were told to descend to 7000' and contact departure control on frequency 124.5, at which time we were cleared to climb to 13000'. Our flight # was company ADI, and even though we read back every clearance with company ADI, I believe the controller confused us with company idi, also on the frequency at the same time.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ACR LGT GIVEN FREQ CHANGE PREMATURELY. CHANGE WAS CONFIRMED ON REQUEST, BUT LATER CORRECTED BY ZAU.
Narrative: AFTER DEPARTING RWY 32L FROM ORD, WE CONTACTED DEP CTL ON FREQ 125.4. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WE WERE TOLD TO CONTACT CHICAGO CENTER ON FREQ 127.6. AFTER CONTACTING ZAU, WE WERE CLRED TO FL200. LEAVING 7000' WE VERIFIED OUR CLRED ALT, AND ALSO VERIFIED THAT WE SHOULD INDEED BE ON FREQ 127.6. THE ANSWER WAS AFFIRMATIVE TO BOTH QUESTIONS. HOWEVER, LEAVING 7800', WE WERE TOLD TO DSND TO 7000' AND CONTACT DEP CTL ON FREQ 124.5, AT WHICH TIME WE WERE CLRED TO CLB TO 13000'. OUR FLT # WAS COMPANY ADI, AND EVEN THOUGH WE READ BACK EVERY CLRNC WITH COMPANY ADI, I BELIEVE THE CTLR CONFUSED US WITH COMPANY IDI, ALSO ON THE FREQ AT THE SAME TIME.
