Narrative:
After a good flight to cys and on return to bjc, I was asked to extend my downwind for a 5 mi base to final. After turning final and being cleared to land, I was asked at a 1 mi final to turn right and do a 360 degree turn and land on 11R in order to allow 2 aircraft to takeoff. There was a plane already beside me for landing on 11R and 2 planes behind me. I asked the tower to repeat the call, and after a moment was told I could go ahead and land as directed originally. If I had turned right, there is a good chance I could have encountered the aircraft beside me or one of the aircraft behind me. In filing this report, I am simply questioning the direction that would have created a situation of possible hazard to the airplanes in the pattern while enabling additional aircraft to depart the field.

Title: ACFT DID NOT COMPLY WITH ATC INSTRUCTIONS DUE TO CONFLICTING TRAFFIC.
Narrative: AFTER A GOOD FLT TO CYS AND ON RETURN TO BJC, I WAS ASKED TO EXTEND MY DOWNWIND FOR A 5 MI BASE TO FINAL. AFTER TURNING FINAL AND BEING CLRED TO LAND, I WAS ASKED AT A 1 MI FINAL TO TURN RIGHT AND DO A 360 DEG TURN AND LAND ON 11R IN ORDER TO ALLOW 2 ACFT TO TKOF. THERE WAS A PLANE ALREADY BESIDE ME FOR LNDG ON 11R AND 2 PLANES BEHIND ME. I ASKED THE TWR TO REPEAT THE CALL, AND AFTER A MOMENT WAS TOLD I COULD GO AHEAD AND LAND AS DIRECTED ORIGINALLY. IF I HAD TURNED RIGHT, THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE I COULD HAVE ENCOUNTERED THE ACFT BESIDE ME OR ONE OF THE ACFT BEHIND ME. IN FILING THIS RPT, I AM SIMPLY QUESTIONING THE DIRECTION THAT WOULD HAVE CREATED A SITUATION OF POSSIBLE HAZARD TO THE AIRPLANES IN THE PATTERN WHILE ENABLING ADDITIONAL ACFT TO DEPART THE FIELD.
