Narrative:
Inadvertent entry into IFR conditions. Received preflight WX brief via compuserve and FSS about X00 am and approximately Y00 am. Both called for MVFR after Y00 am and better conditions after Z00 pm. Received current WX for albany, pou, swf an cdw at approximately A30 pm and felt it was safe to proceed at that time in MVFR conditions with WX improving at destination airport. WX was fine passing over swf, MVFR. Passed warwick airport and approached the mountain area. Clouds started lowering and were rolling in all around. I was put into a bad position since the WX had been fine with 5 mi visibility. Because of the immediate deteriorating WX conditions of the low clouds, I felt it necessary to climb and make a 180 degree turn and then lowered to previous altitude but did not come out of IFR conditions. I immediately radioed bos center and requested assistance to the nearest airport and was vectored to swf airport.
