Narrative:
Cleared to descend to 6000' and turn 160 degree to intercept a course to the approach. Set 6000' and when level, controller asked altitude, stated 6000'. He said clearance was to 8000'. I said that I had read back 6000'. He stated that there was no conflict. (Working frequency 133.15).
