Narrative:
ATC showed us 10 mi off the nanci arrival while using the gve VOR. This VOR is the worst VOR in the us; our CDI needles are back and forth while using this VOR. Gve has been very poor for at least 10 yrs--ask any pilot. This VOR should be condemned. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: the unreliability of the gve VORTAC signal has been known for yrs by all who use it. Swinging of the signal is at all altitudes. Someone will be violated one of these days for being off course.
