Narrative:
While traveling from oxnard, via los angeles, thru to san diego, I experienced a minor electrical problem while flying in the special flight rules area of the los angeles TCA. Coming down the coast from oxnard I intercepted the 132 degree bearing to the santa monica VOR. 132 degree is the radial which is to be the outbnd/inbound radial which traffic in the special flight rules/VFR corridor are to head, either going southward or northward. I was headed southward to san diego. After intercepting the 132 degree radial, I proceeded across lax. During the time over the VOR (VOR changeover from a 'to' indication to 'from' indication), and just thereafter, a momentary lapse in electricity struck my instrument panel. Upon the onset of the power returning, a false readout was put on for quite a few seconds. Realizing that I may be off course at this point, I contacted los angeles approach control to tell them my problem and to ask for help by giving radar vectors out of the area. To rectify this problem in the future, I think it is up to the PIC to make sure that the instruments will act properly be being checked out by a certified mechanic.
